‘Another Life' (Instrumental) by Kano (1983)

Kano. How do I love thee? Let me not count the ways right now. I’m a huge Kano fan. I picked up the self titled 1980 LP with “I’m Ready” and “It’s a War” on it while still in space high school and was floored by it. The arrangements, vocals, and synth patches were unique and really caught my ear. The writing/production team of Stefano Pulga and Luciano Ninzatti was a dancefloor force that rivaled any of the disco greats, in my opinion. ‘Another Life’ was a single from the 1983 album of the same name. The album also featured ‘Ikeya-Seki’ and ‘Dance School’, two more great Kano jams. The vocal version of ‘Another Life’ features an American singer, Glen White, on vox. Glen’s heart-felt vocals soar over the track, and the 80’s dancefloor power is in abundance. It’s really an exciting record. While I love that version and blast it in my space-cruiser often, I tend to play the instrumental out more because the chorus on the vocal version is a bit much for the typical space party. Kano fans would love it, but how many Kano fans are really out there at a civilian dance party? The vocal version is all over the web, so here is the instrumental.

Take a second to watch this amazing lip-synced performance of ‘Another Life’ from 1983:

YES!!You just made my year!!! Treats treats and more treats. So Z what kind of tree do you burn in space?? Also with your vast crates you must have the potential to put together a mixtape that would push the event horizon to the max. Is this to be expected before the earth year 2010? Thanks for the nuggets!! Stay spacey.

Hey Mike & Z.B.

Glad you guys are digging the treats! I finally setup my decks again. I've been DJing since I was in Space 7th grade, but haven't had both decks set up for 4 years or so. I only had my digitizing deck rocking. A mix is very very possible in '09. Thanks for the support!

I love Kano!! Thanks so much for posting the instrumental, it's elusive...and arguably one of their best and spacey tracks. Amin Peck - Suicidal is also stellar!

I hate to say it, but as much as I love all Italo, I detest the original of this - it was so temptingly good until the vocals popped in and he started shouting away...

As an instrumental however, this is pure brilliance. Thanks for the share.

Here's a good rule: no smiling while popping. Or maybe it's "Always smile when popping?"

Great track. the intro synth melody was sampled for Lifelike & Kris Menace's 2005 smash "Discopolis"

One thing I will always be grateful for is the eighties Italo habit of slapping an instrumental/dub on the flip in the grand JA tradition.

If the vox are the broken-English cute Bagarre kind or the over-dramatic Baciotti kind then I am sold but my gods, how many songs have been ruined by cheesy-poptastic vocals!

For me the best Kano records are the instrumental tracks like Ikeya Seki & Cosmic Voyage or the vox are well down in the mix like 'Its A War' and/or sporadic like their wonderful 'Holly Dolly' track.

Anyways, there is a gold medal waiting for you on Planet Cosmica for services to space disco, hell you deserve it!
